Annual Events
LinK participates in community partner events to increase awareness about the importance of literacy and to promote awareness about local literacy resources and programs. Annual events that we support include Family Day at TCC, ABC Family Literacy Day and Healthy Kids Week.
Adult Team Spelling Challenge
Our Spelling Bee fundraiser is the kick off event for our Raise a Reader campaign. Teams of 8 work together to spell 15 words. This event is an opportunity for local organizations, businesses and community members to support literacy work in Kamloops. It is all about teamwork, community building, and a little friendly competition. The first Spelling Bee took place in 2012. The registration fee is $1000 for a table of 8 or $125 person. A charitable tax receipt is issued for the charitable portion.

Raise-a-Reader
Our Raise-a-Reader campaign is a national Postmedia initiative that boosts awareness about the importance of literacy and raises much needed funds for local literacy programs. We work with our rural partners, Barriere, Clearwater, Chase and Logan Lake to raise sponsorships and donations that are then eligible for a percentage of matching funds from the province. Our first Raise-a-Reader campaign took place in 2008.
To date more than $1,300 000.00 has been raised to support local programs.
