The 14th annual Beem Credit Union Unplug and Play Family Literacy Week Schedule is here! The name may look a little different but the week long event still encourages families to balance their screen time with active time spent together participating in a variety of FREE events through out the city. The event runs January 25 to February 1 and is an opportunity to take a break from electronic devices and reap the health benefits of connecting with friends and family.
Thanks to our amazing community partners and organizations, the schedule is packed with opportunities to discover ways to build literacy skills while balancing screen time. It includes week-long activities that can be done at your own pace, such as the All Ages Colouring Contest with Thompson Nicola Regional Library and Beem Credit Union, and the Take and Make Family Meal Kits. We kick off the week with the annual ABC Family Literacy Day on Sunday January 25 at the John Tod Centre Kamloops YMCA-BC, a fun-filled morning of free activities geared to families with children five and under. Other events include the annual Family Magic Show, Try-it Sledge Hockey, Taiko Drumming, Hispanic Tales and Crafts, and Family Fun Fitness and Swims.

Registration is required for some events and opens at 9:00am on Monday January 20, 2025.
